Welcome to February!
A
quick look at what's up for the next four weeks, we find the last full month of winter packed end to end with food for both mind and body and music, music, music!
The folks over at the Edgartown library hope you to join them for an Evening in Tuscany. The $15 admission supports the library’s ongoing expansion and renovation project. There will be regional wines to explore and a selection of cheeses to savor not to mention lots of friends, neighbors and news to catch up with. Also on February 5th, Slow Food MV invites you to dinner and a movie. The dinner will be prepared by Jan Buhrman of Kitchen Porch Catering and Robert Lionette formerly of Zephrus. After dinner settle in to watch the movie “Fresh,” sure to provide food for thought for those interested in the sustainable agriculture and dining.
If your taste gravitates more toward great burgers, pub fries and brick oven pizza, head over to Offshore Ale mid-week for some live Irish music. Rustle up some friends and dig in to a heaping plate of truffle fries, steamed mussels and fried calamari, all washed down with your choice of house beers and ales. Later in the week Phil DaRosa and friends return to Sharky’s with more great sounds. Even the Unitarian Universalist Society of Martha's Vineyard gets in the act with its Friday Music Series. This week the Island's own "Barkin' Daisy," featuring Christine Box, Ray Frazio, and Chris Seidel take the stage with cover tunes sure to get toes tapping.
The week wraps up on a high note with lobster rolls at Grace Church and opera at the Capawock Theater. Up until a month or so ago the yummy, overstuffed, seafood-sweet lobster rolls were strictly a summer treat. Must be that someone at the Church must’ve heard our prayers. The lobster rolls are now available on the first Sunday of every month. Don’t miss out…next chance is March 7. Later that afternoon, head over to the Vineyard Haven’s Capawock Theater which will be screening Rossini’s opulent and playful, Il Viaggio a Reims (view the video on the la Scala website.) Ciao until next week…
