Sailing on a Summer Sea
This month Edgartown Yacht Club sponsors the annual Around the Island Race on July 12, while the Vineyard Cup Regatta is scheduled to be contested on July 19.
Back on land, starting on July 19th, the Island celebrates it Portuguese heritage at the Holy Ghost Festival. A parade, games of chance and music are woven together with traditions, including the serving of sopa ( a thick soup of kale, potatoes and sausage) as part of this weekend long celebration. July 25 - 27, Island Affordable Housing rolls out the red carpet for its second annual live telethon supporting this critical cause.
