MVOL Team on a Fishing Trip |
on board of Flashy Lady Charters

On a sunny afternoon in August, Captain Dick Vincent of Flashy Lady Charters took the MVOL team out fishing. We departed at noon from the fishing port of Menemsha, which is located on the western end of Martha's Vineyard, with 5 passengers onboard. Despite the fact that 3 of the 4 were inexperienced fishermen, thanks to his expertise, when we returned at 4:30pm we had a few additional passengers - 4 big bass. On the way out fishing we were treated to wonderful scenery and commentary, from the colorful cliffs of Gay Head down to the rolling dunes near Squibnocket Point. Besides the views we got what we really came out for - big, tasty stripers. Thank you Captain Dick Vincent for a great day out on the ocean.

About the Captain
Captain Dick Vincent, a native islander, was born on Martha's Vineyard in 1953. His family's maritime history extends back many, many generations and includes whalers, windjammer captains, lobstermen, charter fishing captains and a chief engineer for the Steamship Authority. One grandfather, Francis C. Vincent, carried passengers between the Vineyard and Woods Hole aboard his catboat, the On-Time.
About the Boat
Built by the J.C. Boatworks, Flashy Lady is a 26 foot boat. She is rigged bass-boat style and heavily built with a traditional Maine-style hull. A new 300 horse power turbocharged diesel engine was installed in the spring of 2000. Flashy Lady has
plenty of power and cruises at approximately 18 to 20 knots. She is also equipped with the latest electronics, Furuno radar, depth sounder, Northstar GPS chart plotter, and Icom VHF radios.
The boat striper record is a monster 55 pounder! In the spring, Falmouth pick-ups are available and Captain Vincent will fish areas such as West Chop, Middle Ground, Wasque Shoals, and other eastern Vineyard water.

Everyone aboard the Flashy Lady catches 'em and catches them BIG! Captain Dick Vincent has 10 years of professional charter fishing and many satisfied customers- including everyone at MVOL to prove it.
