Sailing daily from the Black Dog Wharf in beautiful Vineyard Haven Harbor, these cruises offer passengers the most enjoyable and authentic sailing experience available not only on Martha’s Vineyard but perhaps anywhere!

Passengers get to join the crew in hoisting sail, and then relax and enjoy the beautiful water and cool breezes surrounding Martha’s Vineyard… 

 

 

 

Schooner Alabama sailing daily:

• Afternoon cruise from 1pm - 4pm
• Evening/Sunset cruise from 5pm - 8pm
• $70 per passenger.
• $50 per child under 12.
• Group discounts available for parties of 10 & larger.

Schooner Chantey sailing daily:

• Afternoon cruise from 1pm - 3pm
• Evening/Sunset cruise from 5pm - 7pm
• $60 per passenger.

“Kids Cruise” Sailing Camps onboard The Black Dog Tall Ships

Sailing is fun. Learning to sail a Tall Ship is unbelievable!

Give your child the experience of a lifetime.  The Black Dog Tall Ships Kids Cruise program is not available anywhere else in the world – it is an unequaled opportunity to experience sailing at its purest.  The young passengers join in with the ship’s crew and learn to sail a classic wooden tall ship and cruise perhaps the country’s premier sailing waters of Southeastern New England.

Owned and operated by Captain Robert S. Douglas, the founder of The Black Dog Tavern Company, the schooners Shenandoah and Alabama proudly offer these week-long Kids Cruises throughout July and August.

Features include:

• Daily instruction from the professional crew and captain in seamanship, sailing, steering, knots, rowing, charts and more.
• No sailing experience is required. The Black Dog Kids' Cruise program is open to all children, between ages 9 and 16.
• Ports of call between Block Island to the west and Nantucket to the east.
• All kids are under the constant supervision of our professional staff. Each young passenger is instructed how to actively participate in all the daily functions of their ship. They learn to work alongside the schooner's crew and captain, learning the basics of sailing, knots, chart work, rowing and more. This is not a "cadet" program -  all instruction is designed to enhance the understanding of these magnificent tall ships so  that it is MORE FUN!
• Other activities include swimming, trips ashore to remote islands and coastal villages, hiking, nightly stories with the captain and more.
• All crew applicants are CORI certified. Crew to "kid" ratio 1:5.
