1) Dishing About Island Restaurants

Right around Labor Day, a same day reservation at the Harbor View Hotel’s new Water Street restaurant netted a coveted window seat. MVOL.com staffers report similar experiences at Détente in Edgartown and Jimmy Seas in Oak Bluffs. Reservations are now opening up at the new and much touted State Road Restaurant, West Tisbury. At the gorgeous new Mediterranean in Oak Bluffs enjoy their yummy $10 late night menu with a side of live entertainment.

2) The Insider's Skinny on Island Beaches

At Island beaches parking is easy and where to spread your blanket a non-issue. Better still, some of the Island town beaches are now open to the public: in West Tisbury enjoy both Seth’s Pond and the ever tranquil Lamberts Cove Beach; in Chilmark visit Squibnocket Beach.

3) The Martha's Vineyard International Film Festival.  3) The Sept 10-13: Four days of films from around the world and party, party, party. 'Nuff said.

4) The Shopping Scoop
Around town, sales are everywhere.  A drop in at the Green Room revealed a pair of shoes eyed and admired this summer at twice the price. And it's not only summer clothing that's on sale.  Among the racks at Midnight Farm, Bryn Walker and others, are items that will take you comfortably through the sunny days of early fall and on to provide the bottom layer to winter's wear.
