film filmmakers festival Martha's Vineyard moviesStarting on September 11 and continuing through the 14, The Martha’s Vineyard International Film Festival will screen  30 international features and documentaries and 2 short film programs over four nights and three days.

Film & Filmmakers
Over 15 filmmakers will be in attendance. Among the high profile films selected are: Irena Salina’s Flow, For Love of Water (Opening Night), Lucy Walker’s Blindsight, Ellen Kuras’s The Betrayal, Liz Mermin’s Shot in Bombay, Vincent Paronnaud’s Persepolis, Guy Maddin’s My Winnipeg, Francesca Povoledo’s The Orchestra of Piazza Vittorio, Adrian Belic’s Beyond The Call, Tony Gerber & Jesse Moss’s Full Battle Rattle, William Luther’s Miss Navajo and an animated shorts

Popular Event Draws Film Lovers from Near & Far
Now in its third year, the MV Intl Film Festival has become a destination in the Northeast, with over 50% of festival 3000+ attendees coming in from off island.

Filmmaking- a Global Enterprise
“We’ll continue to strengthen our mission of shining a light on different cultures and places in the world. Having an appreciation of how others live and their hopes and dreams makes us better global citizens and helps us deal with universal issues and concerns” says Richard Paradise, MV Intl Film Festival Co-Director. “We might not always have the time or means to travel the world, so we hope our audiences will be entertained, stimulated and inspired by the films we bring to them at the MV Intl Film Festival in 08.”

Vineyard Haven Welcomes Film Festival
The films will be screened at various theaters, all within walking distance from Main Street in Vineyard Haven. In addition to the films, numerous events have been planned in support of the festival.

Thursday, September 11th - OPENING NIGHT
5:30-7:30pm 
Mansion House Inn & Spa, Main Street, Vineyard Haven

Rooftop cocktails and hors d'oeuvre at the historic Mansion House Inn & Spa. Toast the sunset with gorgeous 360-degree views with live acoustic music by Eric Johnson. Appetizers catered by Zephyrus. Wines provided by French Rabbit and Charles de Fere Sparkling Wine, beer by Peak Organic, water by San Pellegrino.

To celebrate and support local farmers and the MV International Film Festival we are proud to launch our first annual ' Join festival filmmakers and notables at the new sumptuous restaurant Saltwater for local MV raw bar and a three-course dinner. Beverages provided by French Rabbit Wines, Peak Organic Beer and San Pellegrino Waters. Screening of International Shorts following dinner at restaurant.

Martha’s Vineyard Filmmakers Forum
The Vineyard Playhouse, 24 Church Street, VH

To celebrate established and budding Vineyard media creators, the MV International Film Festival and Liz Witham and Ken Wentworth of Film-Truth Productions (www.film-truth.com, www.docutunes.com), host a forum of Island filmmakers’ works-in-progress, trailers, short films and film clips.

The Forum features discussions with LA Times/Variety journalist John Anderson and provides a networking event for Island filmmakers to share their expertise and knowledge with each other and the larger independent film community.

Santa Mamba is a complex fusing of musical styles and personalities - elements of rock, salsa, reggae, funk, rap, jazz, merengue, and disco can be heard in their music, but they are best described through the unique musical offerings each member brings to the band www.SantaMamba.com.

Sunday, September 14th - CLOSING NIGHT

Global Pizza, Peak Organic Beer, French Rabbit wines, and the live music of Ballywho, the bluegrass sextet (Tauras Biskis on standup bass, Josh Campbell on mandolin, Vinnie Padalino on washboard, Matthew Lozier on banjo, and Brad Tucker on guitar, drums and vocals) comes together in a spirit of genuine bonhomie to stir up a hollerin' good time.
